About the Place:
Known for its captivating sunrise views, Kalpa is perched at an altitude of 2759 meters on the India-Tibetan road. The village is placed above Reckong Peo, a hub of Buddhist Culture. Reflecting all the traits of a heritage village here are a few Buddhist Monasteries in Kalpa such as Gompa and Hu-BuLan-car which are among the top tourist spots in the village. One can also relish the view of the serene river of Satluj that flows down the Himalayas and gets through the hilly surface of Kinnaur.
Hidden in the lap of the Himalayas, Chitkul is called the last village in India. Chitkul is mainly known for its mesmerizing beauty and bucolic nature. Chitkul is located at an altitude of about 11,319 ft which makes it a bit difficult to reach. But as they say, no good thing comes that easy. With Kinner Kailash in the backdrop, Chitkul boasts its unparalleled beauty on the banks of the Baspa River. It is said to be the last village on the Hindustan- Tibet route and the first village of Baspa Valley.

It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
